ResusMed Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We are the world’s largest provider of ENA Virtual TNCC and ENPC courses. All our TNCC and ENPC classes are posted on the Emergency Nursing Association website.

We teach the curriculum developed by the Emergency Nursing Association (ENA). Your TNCC or ENPC card is issued by the ENA. There is nothing on the card that differentiates between, in-person, or virtual training.

There are three pathways to get your TNCC certification.

The two-day TNCC course is geared towards students who either haven’t had TNCC before or work in frequently with traumas or need a more extensive review.

The one-day TNCC Renewal class is geared towards experienced nurses who have taken TNCC several times in the past. The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) now requires students to have a current valid TNCC certification to attend.

TNCC Skills Challenger is just that. It was developed for nurses who know their stuff around trauma have either taken TNCC several times in the past or hold another comparable advanced trauma certification. The ENA now requires challengers to complete the online precourse modules.

For all the pathways to certification, you complete your skills test via zoom at the end of class or during skills challenger checkoffs every day of the week starting at approximately 10:30 a.m. PST. The skills test lasts approximately 30 minutes and as long as you pass with a score of 70% or greater, we input your scores into the ENA System

The ENA immediately sends you the link to the written test. The test is 50 multiple choice questions, 2-hour time limit and has to be completed all in a single session. It is an open book test but is harder than prior editions. It is pretty much all critical thinking questions. You have seven days from the end of class to successfully complete the written test with a score of 80% or greater.

You will have two attempts to pass the skills testing and you will get two attempts to pass the written test. As soon as you successfully pass the test you will mediately have access to your E card.

Requirement to participate is Current TNCC 9th Edition Textbook, computer or tablet, speakers, microphone, webcam and internet connection.

There are two pathways to get your ENPC certification.
The two-day ENPC course is geared towards students who either haven’t had ENPC before or work infrequently with pediatrics or need a more extensive review.

ENPC Skills Challenger is just that. It was developed for nurses who know their stuff around pediatrics or have either taken ENPC several times in the past or hold another comparable advanced pediatric certification. The ENA now requires all challenger students to complete online modules prior to testing.

The Emergency Nurses Association now requires student have a current valid TNCC certification to attend TNCC Renewal Classes. Students whose TNCC certification has expired will need to complete the full 2 day TNCC course.

The written test is done online and is an open book test. It’s made up of 50 multiple-choice questions. There is a two-hour time limit to complete it and it must be completed in a single setting. You have two attempts to pass the written test with a score of 80 or greater. As soon as you do that, you’ll have immediate access to your e-card.

The written test is much harder than prior versions. They are made up completely of critical thinking type questions. Don’t expect to see questions like look up a discrete value, like what is a normal ICP.

The test will cover material not covered in class. Anything in the class, textbook or modules is fair game for test questions.

Your questions will be around things like given the symptoms, what are the likely diagnosis, you’ve just done this, what is your next step, what are the limitations of a fast exam, which burns get considered in your total body surface area calculation.

I believe that the mindset of the ENA was if we’re going to make this an open book test, we are going to make the students work for it and earn it.

Yes you can. The ENA only grants certification to Registered Nurses holding a current valid license. LPN's and other allied health professional can still take the entire class but will only receive certificate of attendance and CEU's

We have students from all over the world take our classes and receive certification.

Yes you can... But you may want to wait till you have license in hand.  The ENA only grants certification to Registered Nurses holding a current valid license. Students and graduate nurses can take the entire class but will only receive certificate of attendance and CEU's.

You would have to take the entire course again in order to be certified.

Yes you can! We have had students from all over the globe take our virtual classes.

From our course calendar at www.ResusMed.com/calendar
Have the student touch the date on the calendar they want a course and below that the courses for that day will show up.
The student then needs to double click the course name to open up the registration window.

Check to ensure that the class is not filled.

If none of the above works have the student screen shot any error or issues that they are having. and email to Info@ResusMed.com

A known issue is single sign-on security error. This is one in which the student needs to contact the ENA course operations and have them fix it from their side.

The zoom link for TNCC and ENPC classes is located on the ENA website where the modules are completed.

(e.g., take day one of the course in one class and complete day two of the course in another class)
We do not do this. It takes up spots in two different classes for one student.

For virtual classes we have shorter and more frequent breaks. If you need to pump during class, let the instructor know via zoom private chat and turn your video and audio off. Once you are finished, please turn your video back on.

The class requires your full attention and focus for you to be successful. If you are not able to pay attention and focus on the materials, you may be required to reschedule to a future date.

Yes, you do. Since this class issues CEU’s, the ENA requires us to have all students on video during class. We must be able to see students from the shoulders up.

Feel free if you need to, step away for a few minutes. Students that miss 30 minutes or more of class may have to reschedule for a future class date.

Students that late 15 minutes or more to class may have to reschedule for a future class date.

For student taking course, for practice, the instructor will have a virtual manikin on the screen with scenarios. There will be up to 6 students with 1 instructor for practice. The instructor will set up and move items around on the virtual manikin screen as you progress through the scenario.

For students taking course or challengers, for testing, you will be in a zoom breakout room 1:1 with the instructor. The instructor will have you pan around the room with your camera to ensure that your work area is clear of any materials. Testing will be done the same way you practiced with the instructor.

Please email Info@ResusMed.com with dates that you want to be rescheduled to and we will work to get you into class.

Additional information is located at https://www.resusmed.com/crrpolicy/

There is a $35.00 fee to reschedule a class.

As a TNCC Skills Challenger, you are added to the roster of a TNCC-FT-AM class. You do not attend the class. You just need to be logged in at 10:30 am PST to complete the skills test portion of the class only.

Things that will get you removed from class and potentially have to reschedule or repurchase:

  • Your camera is off  and/or you do not respond for an extended period of time.
  • If the room is too dark or if camera is not pointed at student. We must be able to see your head and shoulders.
  • If you have a very poor audio and/or video connection.
  • If you are 15 minutes or later joining class. Test your connection prior to class.
  • If you miss significant portions of the class.
  • You are sleeping in class.
  • You are concurrently doing something else (getting hair done, nails, massage, child care, etc.)
  • You are driving a car.
  • If you are found to be cheating during skills testing.
  • Anything that disrupts the class.

Please check your junk mail, spam and trash folders.

If you registered after hours, your modules will not be processed until morning.

Make sure when you log into the ENA website with the correct email that you used to registered.

If you are unable to locate your ENA modules, email Info@ResusMed.com to have resent.

You will see this error when you attempt to login to a zoom link for a past class. This usually happens when you are rescheduled. The zoom links unique to each class so they will only work on that date.

Make sure that you are using the correct zoom link on the ENA website for the class that you are currently scheduled.

No. Whatever work you have done on your modules will get pulled over when you are added to a different course roster.

The Emergency Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Provider Unit No. P0232

The Emergency Nurses Association is approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #2322.

Note: Please allow ~1 hour after skills testing to allow instructor to enter scores and ENA to process.

You can access the test with the link the ENA sends you after scores are entered and processed. If you do not see this email (sent to your registration email address) check your junk mail, spam and trash folders.

You will also have access to test on the ENAU.ENA.org site where you registered on ENA website.

Make sure you complete the course evaluation. It is required to be done prior to written test release.

You need to review the areas of the skills test or written test in which you did poorly. Do you feel you will be successful doing a quick review and then testing or do you need more extensive training? What were your scores on written test 1 and 2?

If you were having issues with the written test, make sure you review the ENA remediation at the end of the test. This is the only time you will be able to see feedback on areas of the test you missed. Take good notes and review areas of the textbook you missed.

If you feel comfortable with material, the cheapest option is to sign up for a Skills Challenger (TNCC or ENPC). You will need to be retested on your skills test (2 attempts) and then written test (2 attempts). We test skills challengers 7 days a week between 10:30 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. PST

The test is almost all critical thinking type questions. Make sure you review the ENA remediation you received at the end of the test. This is the only time you will be able to see feedback on areas of the test you missed. Take good notes and review areas of the textbook you missed.

You will likely see the same or similar questions from the first test when you retest. Answer the questions you are certain about then focus on ones that are not as obvious.

Test questions will also come from materials not covered in the class. In addition to the class, questions can come from the modules and any part of the book.

No. As an instructor you are only able to assist with teaching classes (lectures, practice and testing) under a course director.

The course director of an ENPC course that you have taken must recommend you as a potential instructor. You must meet the following criteria to be recommended:
A score of at least 90% on a multiple-choice exam.
A score of at least 90% of total points in all skill stations.
Recommendation of course director and instructors

ENPC 5th edition Providers who were not marked as Instructor Potential (IP) must complete the ENPC 6th edition Provider course before they can take the ENPC 6th edition Instructor course.

ENPC 5th edition Providers who were marked as IP must observe a 6th edition Provider course before they can register for the 6th edition Instructor course. Once the IP has observed the course, the Course Director in charge of the course must fill out an audit form and email it back to the ENA so they can award the IP with ENPC 6th edition Provider status. That will allow them to attend the ENPC 6th edition Instructor course. Keep in mind you will still need to pass both the Instructor Course Pre-Test Exam and the Skill Station Pre-Test with a 90% or higher in order to take the Instructor course.

If your written and/or skills testing are below the 90% cutoff point, you are potentially able to be retested to improve score(s).

TNCC 8th edition Providers who were not marked as Instructor Potential (IP) must complete the TNCC 9th edition Provider course before they can take the TNCC 9th edition Instructor course.

TNCC 8th edition Providers who were marked as IP must observe a 9th edition TNCC Provider course before they can register for the 9th edition TNCC Instructor course. Once the IP has observed the course, the Course Director in charge of the course must fill out an audit form and email it back to the ENA so they can award the IP with TNCC 9th edition Provider status. That will allow them to attend the TNCC 9th edition Instructor course.

You must be monitored by a Faculty Member to be checked off. Monitoring must occur over 2 consecutive days of class. You must be present for the entire class.
Day 1 – You will teach 2 lectures and do most of the skills stations.
Day 2 – You will teach 2 lectures and do most of the testing.

Becoming a course director is thru your ENA State Trauma or Pediatrics Chair. This process seems to vary depending on the state.

Recommendations on where to start:

Contact your ENA State Trauma or Pediatrics Chair. Express your interest in CD and find out their process. Contact info is located on the ENA website or by calling.

You will need to teach and number of class and maintain excellent class evaluation scores.

You will also need to become a member of the Emergency Nursing Association as a CD
